Tequila

Tequila is an agave spirit, and a sub-category of mezcal, made exclusively in Mexico. The production of tequila is regulated by Mexican law, which stipulates a number of requirements for an agave spirit to be called tequila. Two of the most notable ones are:

  1. Tequila can only be produced in certain regions of Mexico, primarily in the state of Jalisco
  2. Unlike mezcal, tequila must be made from at least 51% Blue Weber Agave plant distillate
